101 North Main Street

When Rice Pegher Capital purchased the three story First National Bank building originally constructed in 1906, their purpose was for an adaptive reuse of the structure. They have been clients of Entasis since 2017, and we were eager to provide a stunning design to rejuvenate this timeless building.

With only the first floor actively in use, Rice Pegher wanted to utilize the entire building as occupiable space that would better serve the town. With this goal, there were certain challenges to overcome. One of those initial challenges being to make the entire building ADA accessible while still maximizing rental space.

Our resolution was to design a front centralized elevator shaft with a wrap-around stair to form a three-story atrium with access to each floor. All occupied floors are now accessible due to the elevator and interior ramps. An additional rear stair provides the second means of egress for floors two and three.

The main floor has just over 3,000 square feet of rentable retail space, while the second and third floors will consist of approximately 3,000 square feet of now accessible and rentable business space per floor.

The building will get an update to the first-floor façade that will highlight the existing features with a grand front entry displaying picturesque windows, detailed granite, and beautiful tile work to make the tallest building in town a monument to the attention that it deserves.
